How to print Whatnot labels automatically during a live show
On a busy Whatnot show, sales come every few seconds. Writing each buyer's name on a bag, or copying from the sold list, slows the show down and leads to mix-ups when you pack. The fix is to print a small label the moment each sale happens, and stick it on the item straight away.
Your three options
- By hand. A marker and sticky notes. Free, but slow and error-prone when the chat is busy.
- After the show. Work through your order list and match items to buyers once the stream ends. Fine for small shows, painful for big ones, because the items are no longer in sale order on your table.
- Automatically, as you sell. A tool in your browser notices each sale on your own show page and prints a label on your thermal printer within a second or two. You stick it on and move on.
How automatic printing works with TagPop
- Add TagPop to Chrome on your Mac or Windows PC.
- Install the small free print helper. It lets Chrome send labels straight to your printer with no print pop-ups.
- Pick your label printer and label size, then print a test label. If it's sideways or cut off, press the button that describes what you see.
- Open your show from your Whatnot seller dashboard in the same Chrome window and press Pre-show check.
- Go live. Every win, buy-it-now and giveaway prints by itself. A big STOP button stops everything instantly.
TagPop only reads what your own show page already receives. It never clicks, bids, posts or messages anyone, and your buyers' details stay on your computer.
What a good live-sale label shows
- A big buyer number, so you can bag by number without reading names (see buyer numbers explained).
- The username, exactly as shown on Whatnot.
- What was sold: the item title, lot number and sale type (auction, buy-it-now, giveaway, break).
- The time, which helps if a buyer asks about an order later.
- Price is optional and off by default — labels are often visible on camera.
Tips for the first show
- Load a fresh roll and print a test label before you go live; the first label after a roll change can be slightly off while the printer finds the gap.
- Keep the printer within arm's reach, but out of shot.
- Have numbered bags or boxes ready, and drop each item in the bag that matches its label.
- Run the pretend show (Printer tab → Quick demo) once, so you've seen labels come out before real buyers are watching.
